What is the International Men's Day?

Supporting Gender Equality on the International Men's Day

Men's Day is one of the dates that are celebrated internationally, although it is less known, and is celebrated worldwide every November 19th. Both the Women's Day and International Men's Day aim to achieve the values of equality between both genders.

Unlike Women's Day, the celebration of International Men's Day has less diffusion and, consequently, has less scope, since it is not a very popular day.

On this day, gender equality is encouraged, among men there are many prejudices, there is a constant struggle against diseases and inequalities that affect them, this is why this day is dedicated to giving them the importance they deserve.

This day is celebrated in at least 19 countries, including Australia, Canada, China, United States, Netherlands, Mexico, Italy, United Kingdom, among others.

The celebration of International Men's Day is very much related to the 'Movember,' a month celebrated worldwide with the aim of raising awareness about men's health issues (one of the central points of IMD).

During this month men are encouraged to let their mustaches grow, to spread the message and thus help to raise awareness about male health; mainly on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and depression in males. Funds are dedicated to the investigation of these diseases are also collected.
